Dahab is a truly beautiful
place with incredible
scenery and excellent
opportunities for scuba
diving and snorkeling at the
world famous ‘Blue Hole’
where the sea life will take
your breath away.
By night, the fish
restaurants and ‘Bedouin
style’ coffee shops are
excellent value and very
tasty.
Dahab is the Arabic word for
gold, if you have a look at
the color of the sand and
the beaches around you will
immediately know where the
town took its name.
The region of Dahab
stretches across a wide
plateau of rock and sand at
the end of Wade Nasab and
emerged from a small oasis
where Bedouins once settled.
Within just a few miles of
Dahab are some great
adventure spots. Excellent
dive sites lies both to the
north and south, including
Blue Hole, one of Sinai's
best dive sites. Just south
are the wadi Gunay and Qnai
el-Atschan.
In the past few years Dahab
developed into a diving and
holiday paradise. However,
but the combination of soft
sand, gorgeous blue water,
and a luxuriant strip of
palm trees is pulling in
visitors in growing numbers.
Bars and restaurants lie
along the shore of Dahab.
The little Bedouin village
of Dahab, once known as a
place for hippies and
drop-outs, is about 75 km
from Sharm el Sheikh on the
East coast of the Sinai
Peninsula and is surrounded
by a bizarre high
mountainous landscape. Now a
days in the center of the
town which is only a few
minutes walking or biking
from the hotel, there's a
great array of cozy bars,
typical Shisha eating
places, little restaurants
and lots of shops all
situated along the seafront.
